I’m Weathering, a 36-year-old Japanese cepter (“cepter” means “Culdcept player”).
I became a cepter in 2003, when I was 21 years old. For the first five years, I was not an avid cepter, I did not participate in the tournament, I only played with my friends in Culdcept Second Expansion (PlayStation 2 version). Culdcept Saga (Xbox 360 version) was released in 2006, but I didn’t buy it. I didn’t have enough money, so I preferred buying a laptop or a car. At that time, I had only the zeal of the degree to Culdcept.
The release of Culdcept DS in 2008 was a big milestone for me.
I’m passionate about this game, not only to play, but also to build a community and gather friends. The Japanese community was called “DS Cept-bu” (means “Culdcept DS Club”), and the number of unique users exceeded 500. They played a lot of games every night, talked high-level strategy in chat and their blogs, and took in many tournaments online and offline.
However, the Happy days did not last forever.
In 2012, the year Culdcept (Nintendo 3DS version) was released, I ended the DS Cept-Bu. I had more responsibilities at home and at work, and I didn’t have enough time. I continued to provide some of the services, but I didn’t try to make a new community positively. It was the same even if Culdcept Revolt was released in 2016. I think the community is harder to keep than to make.
Now, sometimes we hold small events, but I’m just one cepter. I feel sorry for my friends that I didn’t continue the community, but now I can enjoy Culdcept. I don’t have a winning title, but I enjoy online ranking and sometimes become a finalist in the tournament.
Since the two recent works have only been released in Japan, I have only played with domestic cepters. However, I am excited to hear that Culdcept Revolt international version will be released in August this year.
Nintendo 3DS has a region code, so the domestic and international versions cannot play together. In 2008, I couldn’t buy a Culdcept Saga because I was short of money and passion. Even now I don’t have that much money, but because I have a strong passion, I’m going to buy a North American console and a North American version software.
I can not wait to play with international cepters. Have fun together!
